Malinowski defines “Culture the handwork of man and conventional understanding manifest in art and artifact which persisting through which he achieves his ends”. It originates and develops through social interaction. No man can acquire culture without association with other human beings. It is the culture which helps man to develop human qualities in a human environment.

Redfield remarks that “Culture is an organised body of conventional understanding manifest in art and artifact which persisting through, characterizes a human group”. Bogardus “Culture is all the ways of doing and thinking of a group”. Culture is not inherited biologically, but learnt socially by man. There is no culture instinct as such culture is often called learned ways of behaviour. Deprivation is nothing but deprivation of human qualities.

Politics Along with an increase in influence over popular culture has come an increase in political influence.

This can include athletes using their fame to run for office, office-seekers using athletes to boost their candidacy, boycotts to boost causes - most famously the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa and most recently the immigration law passed in Arizona - and using sports as a way to reach certain demographics.

Culture has been defined in various ways by sociologists and anthropologists. Tylor defines “Culture is that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, morals, Jaw, customs and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society”.

Following are the important definitions of culture. Edward Sapir says that “Culture is any socially inherited element of the life of man, material and spiritual”.

The way of living, eating, wearing, singing, dancing and talking are all parts of a culture.

In common parlance, the word culture, is understood to mean beautiful, refined or interesting.

Sports has also seen advances in techniques and achievements in records and levels that reflect the commitment by sportsman, sportswomen and training to be the best.

Fashions now often reflect sports clothing, partly because of the money injected into sports by fashion houses and partly because of our desire to emulate our heroes and heroines.
